tare

Early access — Oregon

Point-of-sale software for independent Oregon dispensaries.

The dominant tools extract margins and obscure compliance. tare provides a clean ledger, native Metrc reporting, and payment freedom. Built in the Pacific Northwest for shops with one to four locations.

The mechanics of incumbent systems

  • The platforms most shops are stuck on mandate proprietary payment processors, extracting a percentage from every transaction.
  • Metrc reconciliation demands hours of manual correction instead of operating quietly in the background.
  • Enterprise pricing models charge independent operators for multi-state features they do not use, while support centers operate in distant time zones.

A measured tool for daily operations

tare is a cash register and compliance ledger designed specifically for the Oregon market. It records transactions, syncs with the state system, and gets out of the way.

The interface presents only the information a budtender needs to complete a sale and manage inventory. It removes the friction of daily reconciliation. By focusing exclusively on independent operators, the software stays lightweight, fast, and affordable.

Metrc-native

tare reports directly to Oregon's seed-to-sale system, maintaining accurate compliance without manual end-of-day data entry.

Aeropay-bundled

Accept ACH payments via Aeropay without being forced into a proprietary payment processor or paying inflated transaction fees.

Pacific Northwest support

When a hardware or software issue arises, you speak directly to the engineers building the product, in your time zone.

Indie pricing

Access the full software suite for under $300 per month, priced strictly for independent shops rather than multi-state corporate chains.

Frequently asked

When can I switch?
We are currently running a closed early-access program with a select group of Oregon operators. We onboard new shops one at a time to ensure stability. You can join the waitlist to reserve your place in the queue.
What does early access mean?
Early-access partners participate in the final design phases of the software. In exchange for this feedback, your monthly rate is locked permanently at the pilot tier of under $300 per month.
How does data migration from my current POS work?
Our team handles the data export from your incumbent system. We format your inventory, patient records, and product catalogs, then import them directly into tare. You do not touch CSV files.
What happens to Metrc compliance during the switch?
We run tare in parallel with your existing system before cutting over. This ensures zero reporting gaps with the state database. Compliance remains unbroken.

Founder note

Most cannabis technology companies build software for multi-state operators, forcing independent shops to subsidize enterprise features they never use. Oregon independents need simple, reliable tools calibrated for thin margins and daily reality. tare is being built alongside the operators who actually run those shops — every screen pressure-tested in real Oregon dispensaries before it ships. The aim is straightforward: a quiet, accurate, fairly priced ledger for the daily counter.
